Sequence Style

When a game tells a story, it will immediately lure the player into the game. It is like using a hook while writing an essay. The sequence can help players follow what is happening in the game as well as making them want to play the game more. Once you start a story, you want to know what happens. So, by doing this in a flash game, players will play and continue to play your game.

The moon follows its own sequence.

The Keyboard

I do not know how else I will incorporate the keyboard in my game. I am sure I will think of something. I forget the name of the game, but you actually type in info for that game. I thought that it was interesting. I hope that I can find a creative way to utilize the keyboard.

Animation

This eagle flapping wings is relative to the animation in my game.
My bird isn't really significant. It is just an easy animation to make. Having animation is important, but since this is just my demo, there won't be so much animation. However, for my actual game, there will be much more animation.

Sounds

I will use sound all throughout my game. Primarily in the background of scenes. Sound, like buttons, are major pieces to all games. It will definitely improve the players' playing experience. It is hard to explain, but it is just needed element to make games fun and entertaining.

This jet is moving so fast, it broke the sound barrier.

Buttons

Buttons are very important to a flash game. They are the source most navigation throughout flash games. I will use buttons to navigate through scenes in my game. This link shows how to make buttons as well as many other helpful hints for flash stuff: http://www.smartwebby.com/Flash/button_symbols.asp. I encourage everyone to make buttons. They are a major piece in your game.

Final Game Flash Topic

One flash topic that I will use in my game is sound. I will have sound effects as well as a background sound for the game. The various sounds will set up the environment differently in each of the scenes. Sound doesn't really teach a lot about the presidents, but I will try to find sound clips from that specific time period that the president served his term. Doing that could improve my game.

A New Idea

My game has changed a lot since I thought of making my game about president related things. I learned this just by thinking of how I could make my game fun, interesting, and a learning experience for the player. I didn't have any sources help me with this. I just think things up and if it sounds fun and interesting, I put it into my game. I just want to start working on my game. The stuff that is required to do right now is not very fun.

The Journey of a Hobo

My game is a very good learning game. It is good because it is about an interesting subject and is also something that everyone needs to learn. The player will learn about the presidents as well as what it takes to become the president. The Hobo's journey game would need a complete renovation. It was a boring question game that didn't really get me anywhere. I would make it not a question game in order to make it better.. The Larry game was at least decent. There was at least something to do and there were mini games which made it OK. One way to improve it would be to make the game longer or make some more mini games that could provide a challenge for the player.

Plan Team Game

I think my game is a good learning game. I think it is good because it teaches the player about the presidents as well as learning what it is like to run for president. There are many improvements for both of these games. The quiz game was completely awful and needs fixed. There were some good things for the other game, but it could still use improvements. Both of these game have to many things to change, so it is pointless to make a list.

Custom Mini Game

It was very easy to make my own custom mini game. The game was much easier to make since I had just completed the Carrot Game. Also, it was easy to do since I had already done the carrot game last year. I want to finish up everything on the project page so that I could get started on my Actual game. I didn't know that I would be doing close to everything I did last year again this year. It isn't hard to do, but with the inconsistent internet, it makes things difficult.

Team Game

I am making a game for anybody willing to learn about what it would be like to run for president. It will require some previous knowledge, but there will be enough information available for the player to know what is going on. This game will be for all ages, however it may be difficult for younger players. I will NOT make this game offensive in any way. It will be historically accurate and will have things going on that were going on at that time.

My game will teach players what it will take in order to become the President. My game isn't a social issue, so I do not need to show multiple perspectives.

My game starts in the present. You get started on campaigning and everything you need to do. Things aren't going so well for you, so you decide to do a bunch of research on what it takes. You come across an odd book  that has to do with previous presidents. You realize that it is a magic book that has the ability to take you back in time. You can go back to talk to all of the presidents that have been deemed successful. In the beginning you choose whether you want to be a Republican or Democrat, so when you get this book, if you are a Republican, you go talk to Republican presidents. If you choose Democrat, you will go talk to Democratic presidents. I feel that this will not only help the player to learn about presidents, it will make the learning experience be a great one.

This doesn't teach the whole world, but it most definitely will teach all Americans about mostly history. This game will give people a better understanding of what it takes to become the president. It will also teach everyone about presidents and what they did during their terms of presidency that was right and helpful and that was wrong and hurtful. The player will use what they learned from the previous presidents to effectively attempt to run for president.

Team Game Topic

Right now, I want to make my game about what it takes to run for the President of the United States of America. With this year being an election year, I think that this is a pertinent topic for a game. I will create a great story line that will not only be educational, it will be fun. The development of the story will be one of the most important pieces of my game. I have a vision of what I want to do for my game. Players will do things that a presidential candidate would do. They will do things like debate, campaign, and put together some speeches in order to practice organizing them. There will also be mini games throughout the actual game to help keep things moving.

Teddy Roosevelt, one of the most extraordinary presidents that the U.S. has seen.

Mini Game

Nothing has been surprising. I have already done this before. All of the things on the project page are just reviews from what I did last year. Ever since last year, I have seen games differently. I always wonder how the code works and what it took to make the games possible. Some games I have played are Skyrim, Call of Duty, and Madden 13.

Playing to Learn 2

I liked the game The Debate. It looked like it would be something that I would make for my game. I played types of games that interested me. That's why I played The Debate. I liked how in space adventures had a good story when the player win they get the ultimate goal. Like my game, when the player wins, there will be a huge congrats and you win screen. I have no questions for the game genres. I know what it takes to make any type of game.

Hidden Object: Problems

The score was something that gave me a hard time. I got the score to work in flash, but when I uploaded the files to the wiki, the score wouldn't work. It was fine, but then it decided to not work. I got everything else to work, like the disappearing objects. I will keep on trying to get everything I need to work.

Hidden object: Adding objects

This wasn't my first time using flash. I took this class last year, so it was more of a refresher than it was anything else. This definitely helped refresh some of my coding skills from last year. Some type of action I would like to add would be a timer. Another thing that I would try to possibly use is a score system.

Hidden Object Background

It was fun drawing my hidden object game. I was a bit rusty since I haven't used flash in a while. I enjoyed getting back in the flow of things. Hopefully, this step of the curriculum will help me get going. I can't wait until I can start my actual game.

Paper Prototype 2.0

The paper prototype was easy to make since I knew exactly what I wanted to do. I made Washington's office as the setting. Throughout his office, the items are scattered. There will be some decoy objects to make the player stumble when playing the game. I made my paper prototype so that I can fix anything that I wasn't sure about for this hidden object game.

Game Vision

The vision I have for this game is an interesting one. I see Washington sitting at his desk with the objects scattered and hidden around the room. The objects will all be scattered throughout the room hidden as other objects. I hope that this game will end up being a good introduction for my game I make later this year. I hope you enjoy my hidden object game.

Hidden Object Game

I chose to make a hidden object game like this because it is relevant to the game I will make for the end of the year. George Washington is going to be a prominent figure in my game, so I thought that adding him in an early stage of the game progress will be effective. My hidden object game will be an enjoyable because it is relevant to my game later this year. I hope to get my hidden object finished so that I can progress further and get closer to starting my actual game. This hidden object game will help in that it will help refine my programming and drawing skills along with me progressing in Flash.

REFLECTION

What I learned about Hidden Object games are that they are difficult, but they are also fun to play. Whenever there is a time limit, it made the game very difficult because you have to restart if you don't find all of the objects. Ingredients in Hidden Objects can be useful for all types of games. I do not know if I will use a hidden object type game in my game that I produce this year though. Ideas that I got for my game was to somehow incorporate a timer into my game.

Blogging about it again...

1. A single story is a place that has its own way of how it came up and was brought up to make it unique. One place has its own certain characteristics that will make that own place special. Things such as stereotypes are in these areas and are parts of their single story.

2. Well in south hills, it is a very nice place filled to brim with resedential are. Most, if not all, of the families in south hills send their kids to JAMS and then GWHS. Both of those schools are well to do schools that have some of the best test scores in the state. South hills is a great place to live. Things missing could be anything that MAY have been left out while I was listening to people when I first moved here last year.To learn more about his area, one could go on the internet to find out random facts about the area that may be important.

3. Three years ago when I lived in Slippery Rock Pennsylvania, When I first moved there, everybody was asking me why I moved there. People that lived there said that this place has nothing to do and is one of the worst places to live due to the fact that everybody was a farmer, was a redneck, or they were just crazy. After living there for a year, I found out that some of those things were true, but there were a lot of nice people that I met and ended up being friends with. Go to the internet to learn more.

4. By putting facts about a certain area in a game would make the people that play the game not think of the place as one that is bad.

BLOGGING ABOUT IT!!!

There are many things that I want to do this year in Globaloria. The kind of game that I am thinking about making is a game in which the player is going to be running for President of the United States. This falls under the Civics category in that it is relative to news literacy. I am very excited for this year because I will be able to do more with my game this year since I know about how to work in flash well. I am only scared that I do not finish my game. I hope to have a good year.

This Class

This year in globaloria was fun, interesting, and above all, stressful. It was a totally different class than my other ones. I was free to do what I wanted at my own pace and I feel that that helped out a lot. The classwork was really fun because I was able to work in flash. Since I never worked in flash before, it made the entire experience better. The blogs were the most hassle to me because I would always put them off until around 8:30 on Sunday night. I always do all of the necessary work that needs to be done for all of my classes. However, the learning log was something that I did not touch until 2nd semester. The requirements for this class are just like any other class in that they will always be met in order to succeed. Now, for my teammate, Jace. He did A LOT of work into this. Even though he wasn't always on task, he managed to get a lot of work done. Unfortunately, he had to leave school with about a month left. Even though he is away from school, he will always be a part of the Smooth Walkers.
My brother John as helps me put finishing touches on my game.

Game Over

May 7 is rapidly approaching and is a bittersweet day. It is good because we will get advice from the reviewers, but bad because we don't have very much time. We will then have to present our game with everything that is finished. Currently, my game is not done. There are few things that need to be finished, and it should be able to be finished in time. I won't quit, even after my partner is now MIA, it will be hard, but I should be fine. And yes, this year needs to slow down for this class only, all of the other classes can go away.

End of the World

The weather is just the weather. It is weird that the temperatures in the past months have been warmer in the colder month and colder in the warmer month. The weather fronts we receive from Canada cause these crazy temperatures somehow, I am not sure exactly what the science of it is. There are many factors that can lead to "global warming" and the statistics on global warming show us that things may not go well from here. Honestly, I do not think the world will end in my lifetime.

Stolen Penguin.

They were drunk, so they did something stupid, just like all of the other drunk people of the world. He stole the penguin because he was drunk, like I said people do dumb things when they're drunk. the charges are going to be what the article said, they will be charged on trespassing, stealing and unlawfully keeping a protected animal. Well honestly, once they go through their time in jail they will be regretting it, but now, I doubt they are. What i think about this is drunk people are dumb, and they will do stupid things while under the influence of alcohol.

Arctic Technology

I think that it was cool that they were able to get the footage of the animals and nature. It is unlike what you see on animal planet. I think this was more interesting than other things on animals and nature that I have heard about. There needs to be more of this for everyone to see. The Planet Earth series brings a whole new perspective for people that know nothing or very little about nature

...and Then There Were 30...

My grades are good right now, but they can be better. Due to being in a lot of honors classes and an AP class, it is hard to maintain perfect grades. There are many things I wish I could have done differently, but everything happens for a reason. I feel that procrastinating hasn't left a negative effect on any grades, just getting a bit more stressed out is all that really happened. Overall, this year has been good, with some good and some bad, but it has been fine.

Stop, Drop, and check your Smoke Detectors.

Since it is part of the International Property Maintenance Code to have smoke detectors basically everywhere, it seems to put the people who lived there in a bad spot. I feel bad for the family that lived there. Also for the friends of the family that lived close to there. The people that lived in the house should pay for something because they weren't following proper regulations. However, at the same time, they must be sympathized for.

Spring Break 2012

This spring break, I will be playing basketball, football, video games, like Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 with my friends, and hanging around my house with my little brother. My Dad's spring break was last week. My little brother and I have this week. Then next week is my Mom's. Since I will be home alone for the morning, that means I get to make breakfast like one of my favorites, French toast with cinnamon, vanilla, or both. I will be spending time watching TV as well along with playing sports with my friends. My two older brothers will be coming home for Easter break on Holy Thursday or Good Friday. So while they are here, I will be able to spend a few days with them before they go back to school. On Easter Sunday, I will go to church and get and and other things in an Easter basket as we do every Easter with my family. I think that I will have a fun and quality spring break.

U.S. soldiers and Obama's comin, they're finally on their own, 16 dead in Afghanistan

It is sad that we have soldiers in or army doing things like these. They represent America and they aren't helping by doing something like this. In the article, it says something about him being upset about not being promoted, so it could have been done in anger to this. I feel that there should be more security on the troops to keep them from doing something like this. I hope it never happens again.

No Diploma

I think it is good that Obama wants to keep students in school in order to graduate. Making a law will certainly leave an effect on the dropout rate. It will be a positive effect since it is a law and if the dropouts still aren't going to school, they can be taught in prison/juvie. Providing an incentive to the students could make them want to stay in school. Possibly being paid for some sort of improvements the student has done.

Passwords.... And Corruption in Administration

My thoughts are just wow. Demanding a students password for Facebook is not fair. The cop had a taser, why do you need a taser? That's police brutality my friends. We have the right to have passwords for our accounts on certain websites that we get to keep to ourselves. The ADMINISTRATION has no right, at all, whatsoever, to punish students for things they say on social networking websites, blogs, etc. It is the first right of the Constitution. Freedom of Speech, read up on it. Obviously ADMINISTRATORS think they have the power. They do at first, but in court, they have none. Anybody can say whatever they want to and not be punished for it. Read The Constitution, then come at me. Administrators are full of themselves when they want us to respect them, and meanwhile they treat us like babies. We have a voice, and the numbers, so watch yourselves.

Unhappy State

Right here in West Virginia, we are the "unhappiest state" in the U.S.! Due to statistics, West Virginians are at the bottom. I personally wouldn't feel any different in any other state, I'd still feel the same. The government can a lot of things to help. The thing is, however, they won't.

Well I do not drive, so no. I wouldn't text while driving if I did drive. When my parents drive they don't text so everything is fine. There should be a law that bans using the phone in any way while driving. Texting and driving is dumb, don't do it. Please just do not text while driving.

This woman was considered an outcast because she is transgender. If she is transgender, it does not matter. She is still a human being. There should be no penalty towards somebody for this. If I was her, then I would just move somewhere else. Also, I heard earlier in the week about somehow this connecting to being gay and lesbian. You people who say have the IQ of a cardboard box. Transgender has to do with their gender roles, not gay or lesbian. It got tied up into this and it makes NO sense how you connected to this. High School Shooting

The fact that this had to happen is just completely sad and unfair. I feel sorry for all of the families suffering from the loss of a loved one. Many things could have been done to prevent this, such as if there was knowledge of this happening before it happened, it should have been reported, if the student who did this could have had chosen something else to do rather than this, or even a visit to the doctor. It has devastated many families. If this happened at our school, I would be surprised and astonished. Hopefully it doesn't.

Weather...

Well the weather has not been like winters previous. Everyone is wondering where all of the snow is. Since there was a bunch of cold and snowy days last year, this year will have less. The weather is warm from the fact that the weather last year was really cold. I do not think that there will be anything major this summer. It will be a little hot though.

Paid?

Getting paid for going to school will probably do one thing. It will make students want to come to school more, but that does not mean that they will. Whenever money is in the equation, kids will do just about anything. My thoughts are that it would be cool to get paid for attendance. I do not think it will work because the concept as a whole seems destined to fail. If our school did this, then the school store would have another daily customer. Good is that we have money, but the bad is that the money may not go to good things.

Tablet? Laptop? Desktop?

The future of computers can only go farther. Even though it seems we have everything, there is much more that can be done for computers. The tablet won't take over, it will only supplement the computers. Laptops will do the same. Everybody has their own specific preferences, so it just depends on what America wants. Advantages with the tablet is that it is portable and is more user friendly, but it is easier to break. The top selling tablet is the Kindle Fire according to squidoo.com

Unlimited Plan

This article is all about people not being able to use their cell phones because they run out of space since they have limited data plans. Like how Mike Trang runs out of data on his phone because all of his data is used up. All phone contracts have their own specific catches that makes customers pay that extra ten dollars per month. I just enjoy my phone as much as possible. It is not an AT&T phone, so I do not have to deal with this problem.

Apple Problems

All corporations have flaws. Everyone sees apple and thinks that nothing can be bad about it. If these articles are true about what is happening in China, then that isn't good. Previously to reading this article, I did not know about this. I own a few of the apple products such as the iPod Touch and an Apple computer. Well considering that all corporations have their own issues that we do not know about, I enjoy the apple products and they seem fine.
